Marijuana Debunking the Myths

Intended Audience: Substance abuse and mental health professionals and nurses
Presenter: Ed Gogek, M.D.
Cost: Registration fee of $75 includes CEU cost for either nursing or substance abuse.
Purpose: To provide high quality education related to medical marijuana legalization. The legalization of medical marijuana has created an increasing negative shift in the attitudes and behaviors of not only those seeking out marijuana for use (both adults and youth) but in those that are providing medical and therapy services.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

1. Articulate the connection with marijuana use and brain function including impact on youth brain development.
2. Identify and understand the connection between marijuana and psychosis.
3. Describe health concerns related to marijuana use.
4. Articulate information about the Iowa Medical Marijuana Law.

Credit: This program has been approved for 2.75 Contact Hours through Allen College, Iowa Board of Nursing provider #127 and 2.75 substance abuse CEUs through Iowa Board of Certifications. Participants must attend the entire session to receive credit.
