Dilapidated: The Fall of Rural Iowa

Our Executive Director, Peter Komendowski, contributed his expertise to a 2022 All American High School Film Festival Official Selection film by Adrian Guan. The 14-minute film, “Dilapidated: The Fall of Rural Iowa,” tells the story of Huxley, Iowa, a town that could be any rural town in America. It documents how rural towns have and continue to decline due to many influences (interstate development, corporations buying family farms, people moving to bigger cities, etc.). A result of these influences helped fuel the opioid epidemic.
